Weather Forever.

It is very, very cold in Boulder. Currently, the temperature is -6 degrees. It’s been cold for several days, the frigid onset made even more painful by the fact that this time last week we were basking in temperatures in the 50s and 60s. Oh, the good old days, when we were warm and happy and running around in light weight cardigans! My ankles love basking in Indian Summer, but: I have been wearing no less than three pairs of socks for the last three days. Two pairs of pants. An average of two shirts and a sweater. I’m still cold.

Our apartment has floor to ceiling windows on both the east and west sides of the living room. It’s pretty much awesome most of the time. However, those windows are single pane, and in temperatures this cold, develop of layer of ice ON THE INSIDE. There’s actual ICE growing in my apartment. When I pick Isobel or Yoshimi up for squeezings, their little toes are so cold. I wonder if I should get little tiny socks for them. I think they would hate that.

Besides the cold, there is a lot going on. November has come and gone, as you may have noticed. LA has been in Berlin for more than a month. She seems to be having a great time, overall, but I miss her. The semester is almost over: Hallelujah! One more week and then finals and then on to the next. But before the next: I get to go to Costa Rica for the holiday and then when I come back to Boulder, I’ll have a show to get up. Rehearsal for said show – Gidion’s Knot – is going really well, or as well as can be expected. It’s just a lot.

The best news ever: I downloaded an app that lets me do things like this:

Rise & Shine

And this:

Skype Date!

Woah. I seriously cannot stop, and some people, namely Bhanu, are expressing concern. Which, of course, prompted this:

I have gotten to see some cool people lately. For instance: Lisa and I went to see Janet play a show in Denver a couple of weeks ago. That’s two cool people in one night. There were other cool people there as well. Then: Janet and Christina came to Boulder and we drove all over the place, finally arriving in Lyons to see the flood damage. It was pretty devastating. We wanted to try to find Junior’s house, but we couldn’t remember how to get there. I got to have lunch with Diana last week, and in the course of just a few weeks time have had nachos with Lisa, Mary-Laurence, and Sara. Woah. Also: Erin and Byron came to town and we had Thai food and talked about Peggy Jo & the Desolate Nothing, which will be sheer bank-robbing-American fun. If anyone has a bank we can pretend to rob as a publicity stunt, please let us know!

Also: I had to take the cats to the vet. It was very traumatic for reasons that I won’t go into.

Trip to the Vet

But: both cats need to have a tooth pulled (yikes) and apparently, neither of them drink enough water. I don’t really know what to do about the latter problem. I tell them they should drink more water, but they don’t do much of anything I say.

In a concerted effort to be more of a grown up, I have purchased new linens. I’ll report back on whether or not it makes a difference.

The future is uncertain in many respects: much remains to be seen.
