April showers bring…

This week is the hardest week because: a show opens. There is lots of lumber involved. And exhaustion.

Yesterday, I had to buy a bunch of stuff at Home Depot. One of the things I had to buy was a piece of luan, which turned out to be about half an inch too wide to fit in the back end of my car. Some people walked by and laughed at me – they looked like hillbilly contractors, oddly out of place in Boulder. Soon after they laughed at me, a nice gentleman with a pick-up truck stopped behind my car and said if I didn’t have far to go, he’d be happy to toss my too-large-luan in the back of his truck and follow me to my final destination. Thank gods for nice people. I have no idea what his name was. I didn’t get it. I gave him a card for the show and offered him free tickets. He didn’t seem terribly interested, but who knows: maybe he’ll show up.

Not long after, I went to see my therapist. I haven’t seen her in several weeks, as she left the country for adventures. I was her first client since she got back into town. I told her about the messes I made. Mess 1: I left the bath mat down one day. Mess 2: I didn’t make the bed for two days in a row (but you already knew that, didn’t you?). Mess 3: I threw hundreds of dollars all over my apartment. I am not even shitting you. Yoshimi was in on it. While I find these messes a bit disappointing, I know that I will soon make a more satisfying, calculated mess. You know: when I have time to clean it up immediately after the making part.

After therapy I went back to the theatre, where I spent the final hours of the day.

Then: it started snowing. To quote my friend and fellow square, Jess: “April showers bring…Wait. What the shit is this?!”

Indeed.

It is, in fact, snowing so much, that they closed Naropa. I went to work anyway because I love suffering. Here’s what it looks like so far:

Snowy Naropa

This is probably it, as far as snow is concerned for the foreseeable future, but I guess: you never really know.

See you on the other side, I hope.
