This semester is killing me as far as my workload is concerned. Keeping up with all of it is HARD. I live for the weekend. But the end is in sight: just about a month.
Sunday was a good day. Matt and I went up to Jo’s house in Jamestown for LA’s birthday celebration. Here’s the deal though: the drive from Jamestown up to Jo’s house in LA’s Prius practically gave me a heart attack. That car was not made for tiny, icy roads. But once we got there, we all had fun. There were mimosas and bacon. There was a cat named Flora who was obsessed with Matt’s head. She rubbed her whole body all over his head. He was pretty patient about the whole thing, as you can see.
After brunch we drove back down the scary mountain to Boulder. The drive back wasn’t as icy and therefore: slightly less terrifying. LA and I went to check out some furniture that a friend of hers was giving away. After looking at some mostly uninteresting stuff, her friend waved her hand at some boards and said “Oh, and there’s this shelf. The rest of it is over there in the corner.” I glanced over at “the rest of it,” folded up in the corner, and realized that it was a shelf identical to the one in my living room, a shelf that literally everyone who comes to my apartment covets. It is a very hard to find and sought after shelving system. And here it was, perfect for LA’s apartment, and FREE. I grabbed her wrist: “WE’RE TAKING THAT SHELF!”
We loaded it into her car and drove it back to her place where we put it together in her apartment. I was literally so excited about her new shelf that I actually exclaimed: “It’s a good thing you’re here to help me put this together!” I said it as if we weren’t in HER apartment putting together HER new shelving system. In my defense: I was tired and it’s practically impossible to put together without help.
NOW: we have matching shelves. What in the world.
Tomorrow: talk of vulnerability and the start of Spring registration. It will be a long day.
